Hundreds filled Yakima City Hall yesterday to call for a welcoming city that protects the rights of immigrant workers, their families, their co-workers, and their communities.
Working Washington supporter Paola Zambrano was there: ”I want to talk about the importance of the peasant worker, workers who deserve Yakima's protection. The economy would be affected if there were no workers in the fields. It will suffer without the field workers."
There will be another public hearing, currently scheduled for Thursday, February 23rd at 3:00 pm. We will be there again — join us.
Cientos de personas llenaron ayer la Municipalidad de Yakima para pedir una ciudad de bienvenida que proteja los derechos de los trabajadores, inmigrantes, sus familias, sus compañeros de trabajo y sus comunidades.
Paola Zambrano, partidaria de Working Washington, estaba allí: "Quiero hablar sobre la importancia del trabajador campesino, y los trabajadores merecen la protección de Yakima. Nuestraeconomía se vería afectada por un campo sin trabajadores. Sin los trabajadores de campo Yakima tendría serios problemas”.
